Thread: Is It True That PowerPC Processors Still Do Better On Performance Benchmarks

hi,

have friend @ work has g5 mac pro ubuntu on it. says mathematical calculations powerpc mac still faster modern intel based computers. also, when apple switched powerpc x86 architecture intel based macs did worse on benchmarks.

there truth this?

uh, no, , no.

compared x86 processors of time, g5s fast or faster. 7 years ago, forever in lifetime of processors. nowadays, mac mini 3 times fast in benchmarks fastest ppc mac ever, dual dual-core 2.5 ghz g5.

altivec, ppc simd implementation better x86 simd of time but, above, forever ago.
