Thread: Ubuntu 11.10 ATI mobility radeon questions
i upgraded hp elitebook nc8430 laptop 11.10, , upon doing of course decided give unity try.
unfortunately, can't it. have external monitors hooked laptop , don't launcher bar being locked left side of screen - i'd prefer have @ bottom workflow, , doesn't moving going option anytime soon.
i'd standard gnome interface compiz, after trying follow guide install fglrx rebooted , found aticonfig saying:
:~$ sudo aticonfig
aticonfig: no supported adapters detected
so, basically, i'd go standard gnome compiz fglrx enabled , running again. can help?
thanks
-- edit - looks fglrx support dropped older cards mine time ago.. ugh. ok then, can still have compiz , standard gnome open source drivers? if so, how?
well knowledge fglrx driver works radeon hd series , above. older legacy cards x1600 must use open source drivers. don't worry have same issues, in fact have same laptop , i'm struggling quite bit improve performance on 11.10. remember in days lucid lynx worked charm. alternative install legacy drivers have no idea how install them on orneiric since kernel 2.6. anyways luck.
edit: forgot link legacy drivers.
