Illustrator & Stability

i'm opening thread gather info user community ai , stability. preface, i've been using illustrator since ai 3 (not cs 3, 1 after ai 88). work @ service bureau, preparing artwork many different agencies , creative groups use in offset, flexo , gravure printing methodologies. i've used illustrator on mac , i've used on pc. use everyday, 8+ hours day.

 

and during day, everyday, several times day, crashes. crashes when drag hand tool. when cut , paste. when go enter text. when change layer's visibility. crashes on simple files no live fonts (all outlined copy). crashes on complex files, dozens of layers , sub layers , multiple transparency interactions. common thread among them while os going display "illustrator has unexpectedly quit..." not unexpected @ me.

 

my experience not unique either. because work large company, multiple locations , teams, hear lot of feedback. happens @ our plants, regularly. it's known fact among our operators when using ai, better saving every couple of operations, or you're asking trouble. given that, i'm curious how many of see behavior? how often? doing when happens? if me favor of indulging curiousity, in replies give me along following template:

 

user: <yourname>

occupation: <yourjob>

ai version: <cs4, cs5, etc.>

average hours using ai each day: <guess-timate fine>

average number of crashes each day: <guess-timate fine well>

what actions cause crash: <keep short , point, maybe paragraph>

 

note!: please refrain demands action, or flaming adobe (or myself). i'm trying head around how bad problem , maybe give folks chance compare notes.

i forget dealy  playback time on actions or once in blue moon errant crash cause pushing illustrator hard.
