Thread: Diablo 2 issue with direct3d

i'm running wine 1.2.2 , used blizzard installer while downloading off of site d2 - no expansion yet. tried run d2 make sure working point before continue install lod. error goes this:

error 25: critical error has occurred while initializing direct3d.

thought wine didn't support direct3d , why forced play world of warcraft in opengl mode. read d2 doesn't have support opengl mode due blizzard not finishing , ending taking out despite leaving tag there. i've read issue has due dlls have , think need copy right ones diablo directory (i have no idea dll files for). tried running d2vidtst.exe , after runs test output says "no video modes found". hope solution easy going wine config , specifying specific dll override i'm not sure 1 use (if solution). i'm not sure if these assumptions correct or not. can me understand problem , point me in right direction fixing it.

you should using wine1.3 ppa, can find instructions @ site.

last time played used glidewrapper seemed run better.
