Gradual decrease in performance in allareas

hi, running ps cs6 x64.  pc details are

windows 8 professional 64bit

lga2011 i7 3820

32gb ram quad channel

nvidia gtx560ti

several hdd's, scratch disk 2 disk stripe set

master suite cs6 , lr 4.3

 

all adobe software date

running latest nvidia drivers

 

up until photoshop has been running ok.  on past week or so, when have file open, size , number of layers don't seem make difference, performance gradually decreases point using pen tool create 2 anchor point can take anywhere 20 seconds; example, kind of slow down or lag happens tools. shutting down photoshop , restarting works, after few minutes starts slow down again.  time taken save files increases once slowdown starts

 

actions taken far...

i have reset tool pre-sets

deleted photoshop settings files

purged history etc.

confirmed drivers , software date

replicated problem on small , large files 2 - 30 layers

replicated problem on existing psd , psb files new raw files.

tried loading images lightroom , directly within photoshop

changed performance settings (history & cache, gpu, memory etc.) , tried multiple configurations including enabling/disabling "use graphics processor"

 

 

i can't think of else try.  mentioned, new problem started week , half ago , gradually getting worse.  i'm @ point have shut down photoshop , restart every 5 minutes.  photographer, , when have dozens of images, becomes untenable process.

 

can suggest new tests or remedies?

from description, know cause outside of photoshop - either system or app interfering.

 

font managers?

anti-virus?

backup software?
