i building little linux box act nas. considering ubuntu server (have had amount of experience similar setup in past) , freenas.
main question, if setup 5 drive raid5 array now, can later add more drives , expand array/partition size?
best way go?
should wait till have of drives before create array?
raid creation during server setup work? (i did not have success getting desktop 10.04 create array during setup.)

yes, mdadm supports growing / expansion down line. main problem you'll run if ever want grow filesystem beyond 16tb. if this, won't able use ext4 doesn't support > 16 tb.

raid setup after fact, 1 in setup works fine too.

finally, can boot / run flash drive, you'd want set minimize writes drive, doesn't die prematurely. also, slower traditional hard drive.

Joomal 3.6.3 update error - PHP temporary folder is not set - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support
