Thread: Lost browser and GNOME/Unity 3D 11.10

hi everyone,

first post here seeking towards weird problem experienced. did log out of gnome 3 shell in ubuntu 11.10, when logged in, lost "compiz-ish" on gnome 3 -- reverted classic gnome, compiz-ish looks gone. thought gnome problem, logged unity 3d, find lost 3d well.

tried unity 2d, looked teh same broken unity 3d, more on there no dashboard (or whatever call launcher panel applications).

more strange lost functionality of browsers. can open firefox or chrome, once type address close unexpectedly.

tried installed kernels , got same problem

thought try livecd usb see if driver problem, turns out usb won't boot (it booted on else's computer it's not usb), in fact stayed on syslink copy right blah blah line 3-5 min won't go livecd menu.

ran memtest, seem fine. can boot windows partition , run fine.

utterly confused wrong computer and/or ubuntu, can me figure out? use ubuntu , need programming purposes....any help/idea appreciated!!

fixed...well @ least else except live usb won't boot...turns out don't mess ld.so.conf trying homework in computational physics....
