hi have installed ubuntu 11.10 today , having difficulty in booting straight log in screen. boot sequence set in pc's bios is, dvd/cd hard drive. when start pc, boots hangs on blank purple ubuntu screen. when press reset button on pc, f11 boot sequence, select boot hard drive. loads gnu grub page. ubuntu load here, have select ubuntu recovery option then, normal boo t. please advise . hello, welcome. have tried booting directly hard drive? in select hd in bios instead of dvd drive? also, in past experiences have noticed ubuntu takes little while before boots desktop. happens when boot ubuntu through grub? hang on purple screen? when boot ubuntu hear music? hi all, replaced motherboard on server , got recomendation rescue afterwards drivers new board installed. not have cd/dvd reader in server anymore, tried use usb pendrive instead. rescue process halts on step "detect , mount cd-rom". there i'm missing or there nothing else run down , buy external drive? thanks! i when install usb too. think it's because it's expecting cd. hi,   after implementation of acrobat xi company experiencing problems pdf files failing print on printers.   the problem occurs these specific printer types (reported far): oce 6522c, oce cs 250 , canon ir-adv c5045/5051.   the common problem when pdf printed (reader xi standalone or ie plugin or acrobat xi professional) looks normal , normal confirmation print job sent printer. however, in cases job never goes printer queue gets deleted without trace.   the problem present pdf files created using acrobat distiller xi , printed reader/acrobat xi. pdf files created distiller versions pre xi, print fine on printers.   the problem present regardless of user creates pdf , tries print (as long acrobat xi used.)   if create pdf using utility "pdf creator" pdfforge, printing works perfect both reader , acrobat xi. if print pdf files generated distiller xi "pdf architect" pdfforge, printing still works perfect.   it seems change in either distiller xi and/or...

hi all, have been trying install 11.10 on external drive. running windows 7 x64 primary os. go through installation procedure ubuntu , seems go ok until restart , error msg "no operating system found". have set bios settings read external drive. have 4 partitions set on installation drive /boot, swap, / , /home. have set boot loader external drive. appreciated me too. first try linux , real bummer. after 2 tough days no boot ubuntu 11.10 desktop. same "no operating system found" do. in case drive internal. should dead simple. use empty disk, disconnected other hdd , used installer defaults. installing usb. files ok on hdd. no o/s found when trying boot it. drag. let know if can solve this. luck!
