i downloaded , burned cd 11.10. things checked out, when tried install, had problems on machine. figured there bugs needed corrected, , rolled install 11,04 working fine. question: iso @ ubuntu.com updated fixes put in place, or same version received month ago? if download now, , try update, repeating october's problems? quick answer: no. lts releases (10.04, , 12.04 next year) have periodic updated isos. problem may indeed hardware related, or may bad iso download or bad burn. did usual things such check md5 hash of iso , disc integrity check on cd? i installed ubuntu on friend’s new machine few months ago. os boots hard disk , works fine, but machine no longer boot ubuntu desktop cd or usb flash drive. windows cd boots fine. dos boots ok usb (i did bios update). burned iso on machine in case dvd drive fussy. tried bios set sata instead of ahci tried opensuse, no boot tried booting gparted-live cd, no boot memtest ok in cases linux kernel loads fine, os fades black, no errors on screen. . . cd booting worked ok because that’s how installed ubuntu! usb booting worked ok too, friend booted ubuntu while. i’m stumped on one, since winxp cd boots ok. ideas? if you've confirmed these same other cds boot fine in pc, guess @ point lens in cd/dvd drive needs cleaned. can buy cleaners $10 usd or so. why same drive read ms cds not other cds, have no idea -- if same cds boot ok in pc. hello,   i have elements 10 core version 10.0 language version 10.0 updated (or elements reports on asking check updates) running in windows 7 64 bit.   i have on 20,000 photos on c drive in jpeg or fine jpeg format shot nikon d70 on several years. took photos last friday/saturday new nikon d7000 (jpeg) , uploaded elements 10 (c drive) via sd card reader. uploaded ok, saved elements organiser , deleted some, edited others , emailed several. today these photos missing , possibly other shots taken after 10th feb 2013 of might have been taken d70.   both elements reconnet , find photos , videos fail find photos not in organiser. tried recuva search pc's hard drives deleted photos. didn't find such - ebay etc jpegs.   i have 120kb copies of emailed photos attached emails in outlook sent box. noted reference number of photo , searched windows 7 it. windows doesn't find it.   before looked @ elements today windows installing update kb2656351 concerning net framework 4...

at magazine publish we've upgraded our equipment cs4 running on pcs cs6 running on macs.   i've completed moving our templates on new system , discovered whereas ctrl+shift+click unlock individual master items on pc, cmd+shift+click not unlock same items on same template on mac.   i've read related posts on subject , don't want debate "what should using master items for". it's useful have master items page designers can modify (issue dates etc) sub-editors can't accidentally reposition or enter wrong information into. likewise, don't want them going master pages , overriding items.   can help?   many thanks, andy sounds objects might locked. default preference (and stupidly so, in opinion) set not allow selection of locked objects means can no longer put content placeholder locked position unless change preference. i upgraded maverick oneiric , have been trying vnc , working again (with machine server). great many things have changed between 2 versions, biggest problem i'm having keyboard. both machine , machine i'm vncing in have qwerty keyboards remapped dvorak layout, when try type vnc, it's reverting qwerty. given both machines working correctly locally, i'm not sure start trying fix this. advice appreciated. add confusion whole thing, tried type 'w' (capital). both qwerty , dvorak w keys give me < instead (which swap w). however, correct qwerty lower case both keys. of other remapped keys behave expected qwerty when capital. , capslock nothing whatsoever. i'm having similar issues xubuntu 11.10. managed tab autocomplete work locally , through ssh, vnc tab key nothing (either autocomplete or trying tab in text document). read in forum can use "ctrl + i" , did work, i'...
